Introduction To My Story

“I’m Sorry Caramia, I Thought You Knew.....”

Stunned, I stared horrified at the Neurologist.

Knew? Knew What exactly? That:

  • I had a weird disease: “Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis” - PPMS.
  • This diagnosis was proven by a combination of my severe symptoms, rapid deterioration and test results from my MRIs (Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans), ERTs (Evoked Response Tests), CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid collection) blood and urine.
  • I could expect to live for 10 years max.

WHAT?

It was as if the ‘experts’ saw me as a criminal imprisoned in my own body.

With no will of my own.

Guilty of MS.

How Could I Have Known?

For sure, I didn’t know that I was in for years of Hellish pain. Or, that I would lose or sacrifice much of what I held dear: my family, home, income, friends, and self respect. Talk about failing spectacularly!

Indeed, on hearing the neurologist’s words, I knew only one thing: My world of success, wealth and happiness was about to disappear like a mirage......

As I was to discover, that world WAS a Mirage. What’s more, I should have known!

Now, I can look back at my life and say: “Thank you MS.”

Yes, eventually, after many wrong turns (drugs, diets, treatments, exercises etc), MS released me from a world of illusion and helped me to find my Purpose, Passion and Peace.

I hope this site and the transparency of ‘My Story’ will help you find what you seek.

How MY Story is Structured

My Story is written in 6 chronological stages summarised in the MS Stages Table.

Stressed!

These stages focus on my emotional and psychological Stress, as I now know that this is at the root of MS development and severity.

You will see how, at first, the letters ‘M’ and ‘S’ came to symbolise the nature of the stress, and provided me with a convenient ‘label’ to explain the seemingly inexplicable.

In time I abandoned such labels...They hindered and no longer defined me.

Of all the stages, Stage 0: My MS Origins is perhaps the most critical. It describes the 34 years prior to the severe symptoms appearing, and reveals what I now know are the fundamental origins and causes of my MS.

These origins and causes were tough to identify and even tougher to write about!

You see, to understand what was really happening to me, I needed to both educate and understand myself better. So:

  • I studied Conventional, Alternative and Nutritional Medicine. This also helped me to decipher the medical truths behind all the BS. Goodness, was this a challenge! There’s is so much conflicting ‘Health’ information you just don’t know who or what to trust.
  • Once I had the facts I had to apply them to me. That was surprisingly hard.
  • Real understanding came only when I looked deep within myself and learned to accept and love the Real Me. Warts and all.

There were lots of warts!    And I’m still a Work In Progress!
